The first time I camped was also the first time I did a long term hike. I only had a vague idea about what the Tokai Nature Trail was, as there were not many guides in English. I also decided to attempt this trail on a bit of a whim, and only had a few months to prepare. My main navigation plan was to follow the sign posts and use my GPS, which ended up in my back pack the entire time. From that first trip my love of hiking was born.

Seeing what a difficult time I had preparing for my trip I set out to create resources about hiking in Japan. Hike Japan sets out to create a community of like minded people to share resources about long distance trails in Japan.
